Welcome back to part four of the apartment tour series! Today I'm going to take you through the kitchen and the front entrance. When you walk inside the apartment the first thing you see is the kitchen and the living room. Directly to the right is an open area with a tile floor which most people would use as a dinning room, but Omar and I knew that we would never actually use a dinning table and it would just become a place where mail would stack up. So we kept it as an open area and put a few storage pieces there instead. Our kitchen is pretty spacious with a lot of cabinet space and storage for food. We also have bar top which looks over the living room and sunroom. I was really happy with how big the kitchen was because Omar and I do a lot of cooking and it's the perfect size for our little home!
Let's start with the furniture in the entrance way. As soon as you walk in there is a coat closet to the left. I just turned this into Omar's closet since well he's a boy and doesn't put anything away...like ever. So this became the spot where all of his work stuff, storage stuff, and just random stuff goes. To the right is Oliver's cage and above that is a white board that we turned into a month-to-month calendar where we keep track of important dates (like when a bill is due!). Next to that is a coat rack where well we hang coats, bags, and Oliver's leash. Underneath the coat rack we keep our go-to shoes that we slip on when we walk Oliver or go to the gym. Then there's this white table which I got from At-Home. The picture frame was a gift from my friend Jordan, the gold tray is from At-Home and the gold containers were a gift from my cousin, Stephanie. We just keep our keys, white board markers, and other random things that we need on top. On the second level is this 3-piece picture frame that I've had forever and I have a picture with each brother (since I've been friends with all of them since second grade) in each slot. The last shelf just has some random items like Omar's paperwork, outdoor toys for Oliver and a door stopper.
In the kitchen we have a ton of the necessities such as the coffee pot, dishes, blender, etc. Nothing too special about all of that. What makes the kitchen special though is all of the personal touches that has been added. For instance, when you first look at the kitchen you'll notice the Star Wars poster hanging from the side of the fridge (thanks to my secret santa John!). On the front of the fridge are a ton of cards and invitations that Omar and I recieved to our apartment. I loved keeping these because it's the first time something has been addressed to us in our own home. I also have some pictures (use code mkatsaris1 at FreePrints to get more free pictures per month), letters, and random menus of places that deliver to our apartment. Next to the microwave is our mini collection of cookbooks (which yes- we do use them). I got these two cookbooks for Christmas from my parents, the Black Tap Burgers & Shakes cookbook in NYC, and the Tasty cookbook I got custom made for Omar for our anniversary. On the other side of the counter we have Oliver's treat jar that my Aunt Maryland got me for Christmas. Everytime he hears this thing open he's already sitting down with his paw in the air waiting to get a treat. Next to that is the skull bottle of vodka my grandma for me for Christmas. On the other side of the sink we have our toaster, coffee pot, and this hedgehog coffee mug that Ana got me for Christmas a few years ago. I decided to fill it with straws to complete the hedgehog look. I also have this Corona bottle filled with tiny seashells from our beach trips. Yes, that toaster that you see is Darth Vader (shout out to John). When we make toast the words 'Star Wars' appear on our toast. It's basically the coolest feature in our kitchen. In the cabinets we have our dishes and food - again nothing too special. Except I do have a pretty extensive coffee mug & tumbler collection. On the bar top we just have a candle, a notepad, and a framed picture of Omar and I. On the other side we have another candle and this Tiffany & Co. crystal bowl that we keep filled with candy. My Aunt Maryland got me two Tiffany & Co. crystal bowls for Christmas and they are too pretty to just sit in a cabinet. On the other side of the bar top we have three bar chairs that Omar's parents got us. Those get so much use because when we're not eating at the coffee table, we're eating at the bartop. On top of the cabinets is our very awesome collection of shot glasses and mini bottles of liquor. I explained in a past blog post that everytime Omar goes to the ABC store he picks me up a mini bottle. They fit so perfectly in our kitchen counter and I really like the way it ties everything together.
Here is a list of everything I could find. If I couldn't find the exact thing, I found something as close as possible!

Next to the kitchen is the living room & sunroom which you all have seen in other posts. I really like how we decided not to do a dinning room table and leave the main entrance open and even though we have all of the necessities in the kitchen, we were still able to show off our personalities in it. Stay tuned for the final part of the aparment tour coming real soon!
