Vegas was perfect, because it's somewhere Omar had never been too and because I have family there. My cousin Sam and his girlfriend Yamili just moved to Nevada and I have been missing them so much. Since I lived with them a few years ago when I was interning in Arizona, I had felt right at home when I arrived. Seriously, can't say this enough, but a HUGE thank you to Sam and Yamili. This trip wouldn't have been possible without you too and I miss you guys already!
We did all of the normal things you're supposed to do in Vegas; gamble, drink, and eat good food. There were some things we had on our to-do list and some stuff that was random, but we are so glad that we did. We really did cram a lot into a 5 day trip.
Of course we had to go visit the famous "Welcome to Last Vegas" sign. There was a really long line and instead of waiting we just went off to the side and waited for the right moment to get our picture taken (just an fyi incase you plan on visiting). We also went to the Pawn Stars shop. The "famous" employees weren't there that day, but that was totally fine. It was cool just to be there. They had so many items it took a while to look through it all. I really liked the old school cartoon items while Omar drifted to the guns and knives section- surprise, surprise. I think one of my favorite things was Fremont Street though. The gambling and drinks were cheaper there than on the strip. It was also so bright and colorful. It was as if we were in a different world. There were performers and concerts happening, it was impossible not be entertained. My cousin also took us to a lion rehabilitation center which of course I loved! It was awesome to see all of the lions in a semi-natural habitat. We also saw a giraffe who knows how to paint! It was extremely cute and if I had the money I totally would have bought a painting from him. Now, the main part of Vegas is on the strip and it's broken into different famous cities. In New York, New York there is a roller coaster that is literally on the side of the building and it was a blast! I was crying of laughter and Omar was crying because he was intoxicated. Omar and I went to Coca-Cola world and he got us samples of different Coke products. After we got hopped up on sugar we did some serious shopping! The mall was unlike anything I have ever seen before. The inside was transformed into this older city and it even had this changing ceiling where it looked like nighttime. They kept it this way so that you wouldn't know what time it was outside, because inside there were a ton of casinos and bars. Omar even got his first Aqua Massage (see picture down below) and it looked so ridiculous, but he said it was totally worth the money.
On our last day we spent a majority of our time at the Golden Nugget pool- which we got into for free somehow (thanks random lifeguard for hooking it up). In the middle of the pool is a shark aquarium and the pool slide goes through the aquarium. So you're going down a water slide and you look to the side and there's a shark staring at you. The weather was so beautiful and it was truly an incredible experience. After the pool we hit the casino. Surprisingly, we broke even throughout the whole trip. Omar more than me, but that's because we found out that he's really good at Roulette. We were playing roulette and he told me to pick a number. I randomly picked number 34. Now, if you put a chip on a single number your odds of winning are very low, but if you do win you get a pretty high payout. You'll never believe it, but it landed on 34!!! That was the perfect ending to the perfect trip.
Thanks again Sam & Yamili - I'm already planning on the next visit! Any recommendations on where to go next time? Leave a comment down below.
xoxo, Michele
