I’m back with another book review, but I have a confession.
I’ve actually read this book twice. The first time I read this fiction piece, I
was just trying to rush through it to find out how it ended. I wasn’t that
impressed with it, but I found it in the middle of my move and I decided to
give it another try. I actually do like the concept of the story, but I thought
there was way too much information on insignificant details. But let me
explain.
What’s the book about?
As I said, it’s a fiction piece about a girl with a really dark past. She escapes to Texas with her best friend and has an immediate connection with someone there. So yeah, it’s a love story. There are a tons of twist and turns from her past that keep her and her dream guy apart for a very long time though. Without giving too much away, the story overall is very intriguing.

Who would enjoy this
book?
I would say it’s more for the ladies, but what I liked most about this book is that half of the book is written from the main female character’s point of view and the other half is from the male character’s point of view. I tend to love books written from a “guys perspective” a whole lot better because guys just get to the point. That is true with this book. The “female” chapters just went on and on and on and on and you get the point. Seriously, I didn’t need two pages about how Jessica is great friend and then Jessica is never mentioned in the book again. The “male” chapters were my favorite and I would have been a lot happier if the whole book was written in that tone.

The main female character is Cassidy who escapes her dark past and moves to Texas with her best friend, Tyler. Tyler and Cassidy live with Tyler’s cousin, Gage. Gage and Cassidy are the two characters that the points of views are written from.

What’s the conflict in
the story?
I don’t want to give too much away but let’s just say Cassidy had a rough childhood. Tyler was the only good thing in her life, so you would think they would be the two to fall in love, but they don’t. It’s all about Gage and Cassidy since the first day they meet, but not everyone is happy about that.

Would I buy again?
I will say, if the whole book was written from Cassidy’s point of view I would have donated this book a long time ago. However, its Gage’s point of view chapters that made me love this book so much. I do think there was just too much surrounded around Cassidy. I love that she has a dark past, but leave it in the past. It doesn’t need to come up every chapter. Also, the probability of THREE men falling head over heels in love with her just doesn’t make sense. The author had a lot of contradictions when writing this book when it came to the female lead. I just didn’t care for her, but Gage. He’s literally the definition of southern charm. I would buy this book again, but maybe at a discounted book store or something.

If you like a good fiction love story, without it being all
lovey-dovey all of the time, then this is a great book for you. It’s pretty
big too, so the story goes on for a while, but it will captivate your attention
