I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, because I sure did! I did a lot of traveling this weekend and even though I am exhausted I wouldn't have traded it for anything else. I had, hands down, one of the best weekends of my life. It was simply filled with so much laughter and excitement, yet at the same, it was extremely relaxing and refreshing.
I started my weekend on Friday with a half day at work. I was in Alexandria, VA until about noon and that's when I went home to Falls Church, VA then to Tyson's Corner in McClean, VA to get Omar a suit for his friend's wedding. After that we went to Ashburn, VA so Omar could run some errands and then I went to Sterling, VA to run some errands. After all of that we went back to Falls Church, VA to pack, get Oliver and clean up the apartment before we left for the weekend. The next stop was to my parents home in Manassas Park, VA to drop off my car and then to Omar's parent's home in Manassas, VA to see his family and drop off Oliver. Granted, all of these cities are fairly close to one another, the fact that we hit them all in the span of ten hours is pretty impressive. We hangout at Omar's parent's home with the intentions of leaving for the wedding Saturday morning, but his friend's convinced us to come down a night early.
Luckily, the wedding was nearby in Charles City, VA so at 10:00 p.m. it was only a 2-hour drive. We first stopped in Richmond, VA (right in the heart of VCU, so I had some feelings when I noticed where exactly in Richmond we were, Go Rams!). After a really fun night out of catching up and seeing everyone we went to the hotel in Charles City, VA and stayed up until past 4:00 a.m. just talking. We woke up early, mainly because we had to switch hotel rooms, but then we got breakfast and ran to the store for some last minute items. Before you know it, it was wedding time. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous and it was a lot of fun. Just a good group of people enjoying their friends, which is what a wedding should be.
On Sunday, we had to say our goodbyes and Omar took me to Bumpass, VA/Lake Anna so I could be with my family for the remainder of the holiday weekend. This part of my trip was the relaxing part. I always feel so at peace whenever I'm at the lake. From the boat ride, to swimming in the lake, to the rain storm that came by and even that night when (I swear it was like a scene from a movie) where we all were around the campfire while Connor (a family-friend) played guitar and we all sang along. By the time I got back home Monday I was ready to take on the week, it was a much needed break from everything and I love how crazy busy I was. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
xoxo, Michele
