Fans of the iconic Bravo TV show "Vanderpump Rules" will know exactly who Stassi Schroder is. With her snippy one-liners, "I don't know what I did to you, but I'll take a Pinot Grigio," and her flare for the dramatics, Stassi has truly made a name for herself. With the rest of the world, you either love her or hate her, or you hated her at one point and now love her. I think Stassi has really come in her own and I love that she's turned the word "basic" into a positive word. In the beginning chapters of Stassi's book she discusses how it's okay to love things that are categorized as "basic," but the truth is basic just means popular. It wouldn't be deemed as basic if it wasn't something that millions of people love.
What's the book about?
This is part biography part self-help book. Stassi does talk about her life, from the beginning to Vanderpump Rules and after, but it's also about how her experiences shaped her to be who she is today. She also knows that young girls are going to go through some of the same things she did and instead of trying to change who they are, she wants those young girls to embrace who they are. She takes a term that has been deemed as an insult in today's society and turned it into something positive.
Who would enjoy this book?
If you're a fan of Stassi you will for sure enjoy this book. You can hear her voice with each line you read. Or if you're looking for a fun light-hearted read that can identify as a self-help book in a way.
How long is the book?
It's not that long. I got through it in just a couple days. The spacing of the text is quite large and there are a lot of doodles and pictures too. You could easily get through 2-3 chapters a night.
Favorite part of this book?
My favorite part of this book was this part called the "Get Real Challenge." Stassi encourages her readers to make a list of things that make them happy even though the rest of the world considers these things "basic." I have always used the term basic in a playful way, but even to describe myself. Something I never did though was attack other people for liking things that they like. I am a big believer in, enjoy what you enjoy, but don't like something just because someone else does and don't hide what you enjoy because people might make fun of you. So I decided to make my list in the #GetRealChallenge.

Reality TV // Now, I personally think Bravo holds the title of best reality shows (Vanderpump Rules is my all-time fave) but I know way more about the Kardashian’s than the average person. Kourtney Kardashian is my mf spirit animal and she can do no wrong. Also she’s hot af and I’m in love with her that’s all byeeeee.
Nameplate Necklace // No I’m not going to forget what my name is, but maybe you all need a reminder that my name is Michele, with one "L." So, I proudly wear my gold badge of honor on a 16 inch chain.
Fall // All things “fall.” Fall is hands down my favorite season and everything that comes with it. I am a leggings and sweater gal (monogram that Patagonia crewneck plz & thank u). Pumpkins, colorful leaves and Bath and Body Works fall scented candles give me a tingly sensation that only basic girls can understand.
My Birthday // Scratch that my birthday month, because I deserve an entire month. Not only is MY birthday so special–February 3rd Incase you’re wondering, but it’s also my dog's birthday. There’s really no other way to put it so let me channel my inner Stassi and quote; “It’s my f*#!ing birthday!”
Bath & Body Works Candles // Even though these candles are stupidly over priced and burn in less than 2 seconds, they have the best smelling candles and whenever the semi-annual sale rolls around the corner I somehow convince myself that it’s ok to spend $100 on wax.
Iced coffee // Any time of the year–24/7. Don’t give me that judgmental look Starbucks barista lady when I order and ICED skinny vanilla latte in the middle of January in Northern Virginia.. I want what I want and I wanted it before I even walked in so that’s why I mobile ordered it.
Polaroid cameras // As long as I’m stocked up on film, thanks to Amazon subscribe and save, I will pull out my millennial pink camera for any occasion and have that blindly flash go off in your face. You’re welcome for the memories.
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen // I still have an Olsen twin marathon at least two (ok three) times (ok four) a (fine like every other weekend) year. Nothing is more iconic than the Olsen twins and the dynasty that they had by the age of like 8.
Tiffany Blue // Whenever someone ask my favorite color and I respond I see the subtle eye rolls that they give be but Tiffany Blue is my FAVORITE color and T&CO IS MY FAVORITE STORE! Give me all the Tiffany. I have a birth right to this too because Audrey Hepburn is my cousin (your jealousy is allowed) so move over Kendall Jenner because Tiffany & Co. found their newest campaign model.
Lea Michele // I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but Lea and I are destined to be best friends. I first became a friend, I mean fan, of hers from watching Glee (which is another guilty pleasure but not guilty at all because that show was the shit) and my love for her has blossomed into well an obsession. Call me Lea!
Taco Bell // The only fast food that I can and have eat 3 times a day. Next time you go, because I know you do don’t lie, order a Nacho Cheese Doritos Gordita Crunch (extra side of spicy ranch) and then thank me by leaving a comment on this post, because since I’m being my basic honest self I also love getting likes and comments on my Instagram.
