How I Style Thrift Finds: Overalls

I can't even hide my excitement about today's fashion post. I have wanted a pair of overalls since they came back in style, but it is extremely difficult to find a pair that not only looks cute, but fits! Especially since I am 4'11, it's very rare that anything fits me perfectly. So when I found a pair of overalls at a YARD SALE of all places I held them up to me and though, "Huh, these may fit." 50 cents for overalls they may fit? That's a win in my book.

I took them home and washed them throughly because there were some marks on them and you could tell they've been in storage for a while. When I tried them on for the first time I was actually going to my cousin's house for a little Halloween movie night and decided to pair it with this vampire lips t-shirt I got from Target for $8. Putting the pieces together I again was shocked and how cute this was all coming together. Then when I put the overalls on I ran in a few different problems, but nothing that some quick thinking couldn't fix. 

The first was the buttons on these overalls are on the side and you have to button them in order for them to–well–stay on you. It was a little tight to button them, I have wider hips but I'm short, so jeans and pants are difficult to find most of the time. Once I got those buttoned I was able to pull the legs down which helped with the tightness. It was like I had to pull them up to button then I could pull them down, just kind of odd. But of course, they were just a little too long on me. Not by much though!!! I think depending on the shoes I wore, if I wore these with booties instead of sneakers then I could get away with leaving them down, but a quick fix for any pants or jeans that are just a smidge too long–I roll them up. Short gals take notes! The next part was the straps. Even though the bottom half of the overalls were fitting, the top was just falling off. So I had to tighten the straps and guess what....they wouldn't budge!! I had to really maneuver these straps to pull tighter than they wanted to go and then there was a left over strap hanging off. I don't know if that makes sense, but it wasn't bad. It kind of looks like it was supposed to be like that, if that makes any kind of sense 😂. Once I had figured out I paired these overalls with my Tommy Hilfiger sneakers and left one of the straps undone for an edgier look.

This has to be one of my favorite pieces I've thrifted so far and they are perfect for the fall time and a pumpkin patch photo shoot 🎃.
