OOoooOOOOooohhhh here we gooooo! Now that we've gotten the pretty basic, but much appreciated, maternity photo shoot ideas out of the way this is where the fun stuff starts. Just about every weekend Ana and I were texting about new ideas and ways to get more creative with these photo sessions.
I was in the dollar store one day when I saw this headband that head a ton of butterflies on it. For only $1 I knew I wanted to use this for a maternity photo shoot. So let's back up to when I told Ana to buy a dress that she didn't mind got completely ruined. I was going to have her jumping in the ocean so we didn't need an expensive dress and this dress was cheap, but it was way too big! So we literally clipped it behind her to make the dress show off the bump more. If you actually saw the back of her she had clips and hair ties holding the dress together, it was hilarious. So for the butterflies we actually took couple of them off and glued them to her dress and skin (using eyelash glue š). It kind of worked, but that's what PhotoShop is for.
Luckily, the headband blended into Ana's hair color because the next step was we were going to edit out the wires to it looked like butterflies were flying around her head. And because one of the butterflies kept falling off of her dress, I told her to play with her butterfly friend in the photos where she's holding the butterfly on her finger.
Since butterflies don't like water (I don't know, I'm just assuming here), we kept these photos just in the sand. Tips for beach maternity photos: Always keep the ocean in the background. Even though we didn't want Ana to get wet from the ocean yet, we couldn't get any good photos of just the sand, so we had the beautiful ocean and sunset in the background. Also, the mom and photographer have to be willing to get dirty. Ana is such a trooper, she didn't complain once even when I asked her to lay down in the sand as I stood on top of her š.
I absolutely fell in love with these butterfly photos š¦ and didn't think anything could top these. That is until we did the "mermaid photo shoot" up next!
